The 2019 Balifornia Open will be taking place at 

the DRAGONFEST martial arts expo in the 

Pickwick Conference Center.

Doors open from 10am till 5pm.

The B29 Booth will be located in Stage 2 near the Cafeteria.

Things to know about the 2019 Balifornia Open

-This is a charity fundraising event for the Martial Arts History Museum and the
 Way of the Balisong Documentary.
-Please budget $42 if you want to compete in the event.

-$30 admission fee to Dragonfest is paid to attend at the door upon entrance.
-$12 Balifornia fee is paid at the B29 Booth located in Stage 2 (cafeteria area) to compete.

-Trainer Balisongs only. Please do not bring your live balisong blades, security will kick 

  you out out of the premises if you are seen flipping or showing a live blade.

-All competitors are advised to arrive by 10am and register at the Balisong29 booth 

  immediately.

-Contest starts at 12:30pm at the Balisong29 booth located in Stage 2. (cafeteria area)

-You will also need to sign a disclaimer form to enter the contest, which includes 

  a release form for the ‘Way of the Balisong’ documentary.

-If you are under 18 a parent must sign the form.

-This is an open tournament, Anyone can join.
-There will be 2 rounds in the tourney. 

Round 1 Prelims

-Preliminary Round 1 will be held at the Balifornia Booth starting at 12:30pm
-Contestants names will be drawn out of a hat and matched head to head.
-Each contestant performs for 15 seconds.

-Dropping your balisong will not disqualify you but will look bad for your performance.
-Audience applause decides who is the winner.

-Winner will advance to the next round
-Contestants will go head to head until there are 8 finalists left.
-The final 8 will advance to Round 2.

Round 2 Finals  

-Preliminary Round 2 will be held on the Main Stage at 3:30pm

-Final Brackets will be made randomly, drawn from a hat.

-Each contestant performs for 30 seconds. 

-Dropping your balisong will not disqualify you but will look bad for your performance.
-Audience applause will determine the winners.
-Final rounds for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be 1 minute rounds.

Afterparty Dinner will once again take place at the Barkada’s Restaurant
in Hollywood at 6:30pm

Barkada’s is a a Balisong Friendly Environment.
All are invited to eat, drink and flip their balisongs on stage after dinner.
